National Archives 60th anniversar­y commemorat­ive coins issued

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia ( BNM) has issued commemorat­ive coins in conjunctio­n with the National Archives of Malaysia’s 60th Anniversar­y this year.

In a statement, BNM said the coins, launched by National Archives Director General, Datuk Azemi Abdul Aziz yesterday, came in two specificat­ions, namely coloured silver (proof) and Nordic gold brilliant uncirculat­ed.

“The proof coloured coin is made of fine silver with 99.9 purity and weighs 31.10 g. It has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM230 a piece. The mintage quantity is 500 pieces.

“Meanwhile, the Nordic Gold coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM10 each. The mintage quantity is 10,000 pieces,” the central bank said.

The coins are available in sets of two, comprising the coloured silver and nordic gold proof coins it is priced at RM280 per set with 700 sets available.

All prices are subject to six per cent Goods and Services Tax.

The coins will be available from Dec 12 at the BNM Museum and Art Gallery and its offices in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Kuala Terengganu.

To provide a fair opportunit­y for the public to buy these limited edition coins, there will be a purchase limit – a set of two, a silver coin and three Nordic Gold coins per person. — Bernama
