Africa ‘region of growth’ — Serba Dinamik

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Energy services group, Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, which has set its eyes on Africa as the ‘region of growth’, is actively tendering for operation and maintenance (O&M) and engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) jobs there.

Group Managing Director, Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah, said the company is working at a few proposals for O&M and EPPCC jobs in Senegal, Tanzania, Ivory Coast as well as Guinea.

He said the company views the technical requirements sought by these markets are on par with its specialities.

“We had successfully penetrated the region through the chloroalkali project in Tanzania and we are keen to be more active in the region … our entry into Africa is advised and guided by Islamic Development Bank,” he told Bernama.

Mohd Karim said the success rate is at between 30 per cent to 40 per cent.

He said Africa is a suitable area to expand business compared to the European and US markets as the latter two posed tough entry points as well as deemed as matured markets.

Serba Dinamik’s tender book stood at RM12 billion, comprising O&M projects as well as EPCC, he said.

“The outstanding order book is worth RM4.8 billion, of which O&M contributed RM3.55 billion and the balance is from EPCC.

“Serba Dinamik’s revenue is mainly derived from O&M (80 per cent), EPCC (18 per cent) and remaining is contributed by training and training and education segment,” he said.
