Taiwan health industry keen to attract more Malaysians
KUCHING: The Taiwan health industry is expanding its sales in Malaysia in conjunction with Malaysia Image Exhibition 2017.
The Taiwan delegation included National Taiwan University Hospital orthopedic specialist Dr Kuan-Wen Wu; Chang Gung Hospital Neuro-Trauma and Neuro Critical Care Neurosurgery Division director Dr Chieh-Tsai Wu; E-DA Hospital bariatic specialist Dr Ming- Shian Tsai; Dean of Aphrodite Medical Clinic Meng-Xi Lin; Kaohsiung Siao Gang Hospital Pediatric Specialist Zhi-Xing Hong; Dean of Royal 101 International Hair Transplant Yi-Rong Lin; and Lee Women’s Hospital International Coordinator Stacy Ni.
President and CEO of Taiwan External Trade Development Council Walter MS Yeh stated in the Health Industry Forum on Nov 10 that Taiwan has worldclass standard advanced medical equipment, professional medical teams and offers high medical quality at reasonable costs.
According to statistics, nearly 300,000 foreigners came to Taiwan for medical services in 2016, and more than 10,000 visits were from Malaysia.
“We hope this can promote more cooperation opportunities between Taiwan and Malaysia through this forum,” he added.

Cross- Straits Medical and Health Industry Development Association vice chairman Prof Hsu-Wei Fang stated that other than promoting Taiwan medical services to Malaysia, they can also introduce medical management, equipment and facilities, product development and telemedicine to local practitioners.
The director of External Trade Association Cui-Fen Wu, meanwhile, said that Taiwan will be the fourth country in the world after the United States, Canada and Australia to implement the hospital evaluation system.
Other than self-evaluation, there are 15 hospitals which have passed the JCI international accreditation. There are not only world- class standard medical services in Taiwan, but also long-term gray hair care service, medical beauty care products and health care equipment and facilities.
