Search for missing senior citizen yields no leads on second day

-

KUCHING: A search operation for a senior citizen suffering from dementia who went missing from his house on Sunday entered its second day here yesterday with no new development.

The victim, Ambing Lumbu, 78, was last seen wandering around Kampung Kuap, Mile 10 in Padawan.

His niece Nonie Jelian, when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday, said her uncle suffers from dementia and heart problems which cause him to feel tired easily.

“Previously, my uncle knew his way back home. However, it has been three days since he went missing and we are all anxious and worried for him,” she said, adding her uncle was last seen by villagers walking shirtless with a black tracksuit and two different slippers.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department ( Bomba) state assistant operations director Tiong Ling Hii said the search operation was launched after the department was notified on Tuesday morning.

“Bomba personnel were dispatched to the scene and spent the whole Tuesday afternoon searching the area within a 1km radius.

“However, they failed to locate the victim and called off the operation at 5.40pm,” he said.

The operation resumed yesterday with the search radius expanded to 2km radius from the victim’s house.

Members of the public who may have information on Ambing’s whereabouts can contact Nonie on 019- 8197678.
