Army’s ‘Jiwa Murni’ programme enhances ties with the public
MIRI: The ‘Jiwa Murni’ programme continues to be the main activity of the Malaysian Armed Forces which not only builds partnership with the public, but also provides an opportunity for its members to contribute to the community.
According to the 31st Infantry Brigade commander Brigadier General Datuk Fadzil Tajuddin, the ‘Jiwa Murni’ programme which was held at Al- Jabbar Mosque in Niah here was part of the Border Regiment’s inaugural Kenyalang Cycling Expedition activity which started from Sungai Tujuh Customs, Immigration and Quarantine ( CIQ) complex here on Tuesday.
“The mosque is chosen as the first stop for this project as it is on the expedition path starting from CIQ Sungai Tujuh in Miri to Tanjong Datu in Kuching and it is also in line with the expedition’s objective which is to expose the community to the Border Regiment,” he told The Borneo Post on Tuesday.
The mosque’s chairperson Noh Mat welcomed the assistance from the Border Regiment.
“We are grateful for the help from the Border Regiment in the ‘gotong-royong’ with the community at this mosque and I hope this cooperation will continue.
“This teamwork will not only help to beautify the mosque but it is also a chance for the villagers here to know more about the Border Regiment’s presence in the state,” he said.
Over 30 officers from five battalions of the Border Regiment took part in the 988km cycling expedition, which will take 10 days to complete.
