DO happy with collaborat­ion programme by Bomba, SSGP Petronas

MARUDI: Marudi district officer Mackos Sibong on Tuesday expressed his thanks to the Fire and Rescue (Bomba) station here led by PKB 1 Law Poh Kiong and SSGP Petronas operations manager Sufian Sabeli for initiating a collaborat­ion programme to strengthen relationsh­ip and community engagement with the heads of government department­s and community leaders in this district.

Mackos, who is also District Disaster Relief chairman, was speaking at the Pre- Christmas event with heads of government department­s and community leaders at the Bomba station here.

Being the front liners in times of disaster, he said it was appropriat­e that Bomba and the Police come together and be close to the people and other department­s and agencies so that they could work as one force during disasters.

To the community leaders, he told them to be always on the alert especially during the rainy season that is expected to come soon.

“They should and must report any disaster such as flooding to Bomba, Police, Civil Defence Force and other agencies as soon as possible to get assistance,” he said.

To the government agencies, he said they must always be prepared to render assistance immediatel­y.

He also said they must attend to the welfare and ensure the safety of those affected.

Among those present were officer in charge of Marudi Bomba station Maureen Sim, Sufian, DSP Gabriel Risut and Penghulu Edrews Abdul Ghapar.
