“Alternatively, students can use the qualification to secure their dream jobs. Both our DIA and DIBM are recognised by employers throughout the country, and are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency,” said Kolej Sunway Kuching CEO Joseph Lim in a press statement yesterday.
Sunway diploma graduates will have the option to enter Year 2 of undergraduate programmes at a wide range of top ranking local and overseas universities including Nottingham University Malaysia Campus; University of Waikato, New Zealand; University of Canterbury, New Zealand; Birmingham City University, UK; University of Western Australia; Curtin University Sarawak and Australia; Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus; James Cook University, Singapore; KDU University College, Victoria University, Melbourne; Australia Catholic University, Sydney; Cardiff University, Wales; Kaplan Higher Education Academy, Singapore; University College of Technology Sarawak ( UCTS); UCSI University; and Sunway University.
“With our articulation pathways, our DIA and DIBM graduates can choose to study overseas in the UK, Australia, New Zealand or Singapore.
“Alternatively, they can stay closer to their families and friends by choosing to study at reputable local universities in Sarawak or Peninsular Malaysia,” Lim said.
Diploma in Accounting graduates will not be restricted to accounting and finance majors if they decide to enroll at one of Sunway’s partner universities.
The DIA programme also provides students with a pathway to the prestigious Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional accountancy qualification.
Kolej Sunway Kuching’s Diploma in Business Management is designed to enable students to acquire knowledge of the foundations of business and management.
Lim revealed that Kolej Sunway Kuching will be implementing a number of new initiatives next year to ensure both programmes maintain a competitive edge.
“In 2018, we will be organising numerous industrial visits and field trips, a series of lectures, and soft skills and leadership workshop with the Australian Institute of Management, Western Australia (Aimwa) with a guest speaker from Birmingham City University and a team building workshop from Kaplan Singapore.
“For our DIA students, we will be running an audit simulation workshop as well as a cash flow workshop,” Lim said.
The January intake for DIA and DIBM is in progress. Classes for both courses will commence on Jan 15, 2018. In conjunction with their upcoming January 2018 intake, Kolej Sunway Kuching will be holding an Open Day at the campus or visit it at Study Malaysia Fair at Boulevard shopping mall (new wing) from 10am to 5pm on Dec 9 and 10, 2017.
