PAMSC to conduct free design lecture open to the public

KUCHING: The local chapter of the Malaysian Institute of Architects ( PAMSC) and Nippon Paint will be conducting for members of the public their last free Public Design lecture of the year this Friday.

The venue is Pusat Pembanguna­n Kemahiran Sarawak (PPKS) at Jalan Canna, Tabuan Jaya here. The first lecture starts at 6.30pm.

The keynote speaker is Ekaphap Duangkaew from Creative and Design Office in Bangkok, Thailand.

This young designer has come up with many innovative solutions to buildings such as houses, schools and public amenities.

Ekaphap has won numerous design awards and has been featured in design magazines worldwide.

His talk will be useful to local businesses looking for a creative edge over their competitor­s.

The second speaker is Ar Qhawarizmi Norhisham, an Honorary Mention and Students’ Choice winner of the Nippon Paint Young Designer Award 2011.

He recently started his own practice and will share about his journey from promising young student to successful young architect. His talk will be beneficial to local design and high school students.

The final speaker for the evening is local architect Ar Wee Hii Min who will discuss the idea of ‘sufficienc­y’, and how a good design need not cost more. He will use his projects to explain how this can be achieved.

Wee Hii’s projects have won awards nationally and his talk will be useful for students and young homeowners.

The audience can ask questions during the Q& A session at the end of every presentati­on.

Profession­als in attendance will get 2 CPD points.

PAMSC chairman Ar Bong Joon Hin said the lecture is free so just register online at www.pamsc.org. my and show up with a open mind.
