Pullman Hotel brings Christmas cheer to children in paediatric ward of Miri Hospital

MIRI: Staff of Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel visited and distribute­d Christmas gifts to patients at the Miri Hospital recently.

This inaugural corporate social responsibi­lity (CSR) activity led by Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel manager Jayson Chong presented Christmas gifts to 50 patients in the paediatric ward.

“It is hoped that this programme would bring cheer to the children who are warded in the hospital. They still can enjoy the excitement of the Christmas celebratio­n,” Chong told The Borneo Post when met at the Miri Hospital.

Chong said giving such gifts reassured the children they are not forgotten despite being in the hospital.

He revealed that the visit was part of the hotel’s visit to four venues namely the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society, Miri Hospital Paediatric Ward, Catholic Society for the Urban Poor and the Miri Methodist Children’s Home, in line with their Solidarity Week 2017 which runs from yesterday ( Dec 4) to this Friday ( Dec 8) to distribute Christmas gifts donated by hotel guests.

About 20 participan­ts including heads of various department of Pullman Miri Waterfront and students of #WAT Sarawak Academy joined in the visit where they also performed Christmas carols .

“Through this activity, we hope to encourage the younger generation to be more grateful of what they have today and get more involved in volunteer programmes,” he added.

Also present at the visit were several Miri Hospital medical personnel.
