Wanita Umno vows to continue its strong support for Najib, Ahmad Zahid
KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Umno is determined to continue giving its strong support for the combination of party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to continue to lead the sacred party.
While expressing the wing’s undivided loyalty, the movement’s head Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil urged the two leaders to continue to raise the flag of aspiration and drive the transformation which had been promised previously.
“To the president, vicepresident discharging the duty of the deputy president, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and vice- president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein as well as the Umno leadership lineup, the Wanita movement will ensure that the line-up that had been straightened for more than 70 years would remain calm and strong, destroying the sedition allegations hurled out of jealousy at the strength of this party.
“The Wanita movement also supports the stand and suggestion by ( Datuk Seri) Hishammuddin who emphasised that there should be no contest for the posts of president and deputy president at the next party election, for the sake of party solidarity and consensus,” she said to loud applause from the 973 Wanita Umno delegates at the wing’s General Assembly, here yesterday.
The Wanita leader also stated the Wanita Umno’s pledge to be together with the Youth and Puteri movements as well as the Barisan Nasional ( BN) component parties in ensuring victory for the party.
In her policy speech, Shahrizat promised that with the strength of 1.4 million registered members, which formed the biggest women’s political party in history, Wanita Umno would ensure that BN would not fail in the 14th General Election ( GE14) which was described as the “mother of all elections”. — Bernama
