Junior threesome blaze Sunway Megalanes

KUCHING: Two podium finishes in two days for Abas youth bowlers at the 18th Milo Internatio­nal All- Stars at Sunway Megalanes, Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya is something to shout about for the Amateur Tenpin Bowling Associatio­n of Sarawak (Abas).

On Monday, Lavinia Kho Jia Jie was placed second in the Girls Under 12 finals when she knocked down 1,559 pins over eight games, losing to the champion from Japan, Manon Ishida, only by 17 pins.

Marcos Chang Hao Hong finished in a respectabl­e 11th place out of 22 finalists in the Boys U12 category when he bowled an eightgame finals of 1,451 pins.

The winner was Ilman Nazim Roslim of Sunway Megalanes who accumulate­d a total of 1,762 pins while Johor’s Carl Zharfan Aisy Redzuan was third with 1,717 pins.

The second day of competitio­n on Tuesday saw Mohd Nur Syafiq Mohd Amran finishing third in the Boys U15 Masters Final with 1,792 pins while Morgan Chang ended up in 20th spot.

Syafiq then teamed up with Manon to win the Milo Cup.

In the Girls U15 Masters Final, Nur Hazirah Ramli did not have a good game in the seventh frame but came back strongly in the eighth game to finish in seventh position with 1,586 pins.

Her teammate Dayang Yumi Azreen Abang Azman was 11th out of 22 finalists after registerin­g a score of 1,457 pins.
