KUALA LUMPUR: AmBank ( M) Bhd aims to grow the share from its priority banking segment to 15 per cent of total retail contribution by 2019, from the current 5-10 per cent.

Group chief executive officer, Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir, said this target was achievable given its large priority banking customer base of 64,313 as of October this year, a growth of 383 per cent from 13,301 recorded in December last year.

In terms of deposits, he said this segment contributed 55 per cent to the group.

Meanwhile, chairman,Tan Sri Azman Hashim said the new centre would enable customers to conduct their banking or have a financial portfolio created and reviewed in a conducive environment by their dedicated AmBank Relationship Manager together with its team of investment consultants.

“This further demonstrates our commitment to serving our customers’ banking needs and bringing it to a new level of customer experience,” he added.

The newly-launched centre is AmBank’s seventh in the country, and the bank plans to open another one in Johor Bahru next year. AmBank Priority Banking customers will be eligible for the AmStar account promotion, a specially designed current account where customers can earn up to 3.18 per cent on their daily transaction account.

The promotion is open to all AmBank Priority Banking customers nationwide until Dec 31, 2017, whereby priority customers are required to open the AmStar account with an initial deposit of RM10,000 and maintain monthly average balance of RM10,000 to receive RM88 cash back. — Bernama
