PBB Samariang to form Digital Economy Action Council

-

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Samariang will set up a Digital Economy Action Council soon.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan praised the branch’s initiative in supporting Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s call to boost Sarawak’s development through a digital economy.

“This is to make sure we can leapfrog the development in our state’s economy (to be on par) with the rest of the world faster, in accordance with what is envisioned by the Chief Minister,” Awang Tengah said during PBB Samariang’s annual general meeting yesterday.

“With the capable PBB members in Samariang branch, I am sure that this council can be formed and implemented so as to help the socioeconomic development of the people and the business community in the area.”

He pointed out Abang Johari is passionate about adopting the digital economy to ensure competitiveness in a borderless world.

“While I’m speaking now, our Chief Minister is overseas. He is looking at and learning how he can further develop our state with new ideas and to boost our economy. This is the kind of leader we want in PBB now and in the future,” said Awang Tengah.

The PBB acting deputy president said the party would continue to groom new leaders to gradually take over leadership roles.

“We are also very fair and we want the party to have equal representation of different genders to be our leaders and the representatives of the people and in Barisan Nasional government.

“We have proven that and we are proud that these young PBB leaders are representing their areas and also in the state cabinet,” he said.

He stressed PBB not only grooms its members to be leaders but ensures the development of the state to improve the people’s quality of life.

“That is why we must support our Chief Minister, who was once a young leader that the party groomed, and we want the continuity to have a leader like him who can transform the party to greater heights and develop the state,” he said.

Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali who is PBB Samariang chairperson said 64 projects worth tens of millions of ringgit were implemented in her constituency between 2015 and 2017.

“We must stay united in PBB, which is our party’s strength. And like a pyramid, our base must be strong. Our grassroots must be strong, otherwise our top leaders will be shaken,” she said.

Among those present were Assistant Minister for Education and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee, State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, and PBB Samariang deputy chairman Tan Sri Abang Khalid Abang Marzuki.
