See: Vital for PH to win many seats in Sarawak for it to take over Parliament

-

MIRI: Sarawak must deliver sufficient seats for Pakatan Harapan ( PH) in the 14th general election (GE14) to be able to take over Parliament.

Sarawak PKR election director See Chee How, who stated this, said it is important for PH to win many seats in Sarawak as it will determine the future of the opposition pact including getting back the rights of Sarawak from the federal government.

“I hope that Miri people will come and assist us PKR and PH and make sure the party deliver an opposition MP in Miri,” See said during the launching of the PKR election machinery at PKR Miri office yesterday.

Present were Miri member of Parliament Dr Teo Yu Keng, Sarawak PKR women chief Voon Shiak Ni and PKR Miri members.

On the Miri seat, he said PKR hoped to get the support of Miri residents and volunteers and election workers to ensure that the seat, which is now held by Dr Teo, remains with the party and Pakatan Harapan in order that the coalition has more strength in its fight for devolution of power and autonomy as spelt out in Malaysia Agreement 1963 ( MA63).

“Next election is critical for PH and PKR as we need people who are dedicated and committed to getting back the rights of Sarawakians and Sabahans by electing PH candidates into the Parliament in the 14th general election,” he stressed.

He pointed out that PKR Miri has good candidates who are ready to represent the people of Miri and that it had started preparing the election machinery, recruiting people and calling in more volunteers to help with the election.

“PH and PKR are well prepared for the election as we think that the election will be held within the first four months of next year,” he added.

On the recent remark by Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin that the rising cost of living is God’s will, he said “It is a ridiculous statement” that does not provide any solution to the problem that is affecting everyone in Malaysia.

“We believe Umno has better leaders and ministers than Hamzah Zainudin who should not say something like that which only frustrates the people,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Teo said PKR Miri was more ready and organised to face the parliamentary election this time.

“PKR Miri is more ready and getting the people organised and is even going to start more programmes,” he added.
