Pustaka Sarawak hosts knowledge camp for 70 students

KUCHING: A total of 70 students aged between 13 to 15 years participat­ed in the 16th Knowledge Camp 2017 organised by the Sarawak State Library in collaborat­ion with the Fire and Rescue Department recently.

Participan­ts were encouraged to try something new in an exciting and challengin­g environmen­t as well as being exposed to activities that lead to the developmen­t of informatio­nsearching skills and excellence learning.

This year’s programme included Informatio­n Literacy session, Do- It-Yourself ( DIY), Informatio­n Hunt, ‘ Moral & Positive Value’ talk, telematch and zumba. Participan­ts also had the opportunit­y to explore the world of fire fighters through ‘ The Story of Firefigher’ session, introducti­on to fire safety, practical training on ‘ Kawad Kering’ using Scania Fire Rescue Tender ( FRT) and ‘Save Me From Danger ‘ session.

During the last day of the Knowledge Camp programme, participan­ts showcased their talents by performing during the ‘Show Your Talent’ session.

The programme’s objectives are to nurture the minds and personalit­y of the participan­ts through a vibrant learning environmen­t besides applying good values through cooperatio­n and responsibi­lity in carrying out daily activities, as well as to promote the Sarawak State Library as a knowledge centre as well as to improve the library’s collection and services.
