LKW Fashion Club at 2017 Singapore Fashion Week

SINGAPORE: The Limkokwing University’s Fashion Club, the world’s first fashion label by a University, has been acknowledg­ed as one of the emerging design house in the region by the Council of Fashion Design of America through the Singapore Fashion Week.

The Limkokwing Fashion Club is the only foreign private university to be invited to showcase its collection at the 2017 Singapore Fashion Week along with other brands.

At the 2017 Singapore Fashion Week, Limkokwing Fashion Club provided a dazzling take of modest fashion in a section under ModestyleA­sia high profile names, alongside other fashion stars, such as Jason Wu from the US, Arissa Cheo from Singapore, Malaysia’s Jovian Mandagie, Dian Pelangi from Indonesia, and Ginlee from Israel.

Presenting a reimagine version of the exclusive collection, Malaysian Soul, Limkokwing Fashion Club showcased a spectacle inspired from the cultures of Malaysia.

The show attracted attentions from Singapore’s biggest fashion figures, such as Rayne Reed of head of Zalora’s private label; Aimee- Cheng Bradshaw, Singapore’s current model- of-themoment; and Timothy Cheng, CEO and founder of Modestyle Asia.

The Limkokwing Fashion Club also received the attentions of Michelle Obama’s designer, Jason Wu; Kenneth Goh, the editor-in- chief of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore; and social media darling, Nicole Warne, whose Instagram account, @ Garypepper­girl, has more than 1.4 million followers worldwide.

As Singapore’s premier fashion event, Singapore Fashion Week has featured global fashion designers since its inceptions in 2001.

In 2015, Singapore Fashion Week forged a strategic global alliance with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) that made the Council the patron of the Fashion Week.

Due to this alliance, Singapore Fashion Week is also included to be listed among the Internatio­nal Fashion Weeks.

Limkokwing Fashion Club was Invited by Timothy Chen, CEO of Modestyle Asia, who spotted the Club’s Raya Collection and become a follower later on.

The recognitio­n from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, or CFDA, is another milestone received by the innovative university.
