Hope Place comes to aid of longhouses in Sri Aman

KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching recently presented aid to several longhouses in Sri Aman area including Engkilili, Lubok Antu and Betong.

Based on requests from members of the public, Hope Place sent a team to Sri Aman area and interviewe­d many needy families during the week-long trip. The interview enabled them to identify 36 needy families to receive assistance from Hope Place committee.

These families from Sri Aman ( Betong, Engkilili and Lubok Antu) area were adopted by Hope Place for one year.

Having raised about RM10,000, Hope Place needs another RM40,000 for the project in Sri Aman.

Hope Place thanked Hom Kim Recycling Co, represente­d by its manager Allan Chai and a group of volunteers from Sri Aman who helped during the trip to Sri Aman.

Hope Place is an NGO that visits the poor and less fortunate families to deliver essentials like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits, and noodles.

It also supplies milk powder, oat and diapers to families caring for children with special needs, the elderly and disabled.

Aid is delivered once every two months with more than 180 families on its list.

Many of these families or individual­s barely earn enough to get through the month so are grateful for basic necessitie­s to be delivered to them.

Should the public be interested to make a donation, they can ask for a receipt from staff at Hope Place.
