IMH presents awards to top student musicians
KUCHING: International Music House (IMH) presented its ‘Awards of Musical Stars’ on Thursday.
The IMH Achievement Award went to Daniel Chan and Cantona Cyril. Mohd Khalid Reduan was the IMH Outstanding Young Musician, while the IMH Outstanding Achievement award went to Abang Erfan Abang Aszman.
Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who presented the awards, praised IMH for giving scholarships to musical talents in the state from low income families and for creating its ‘Save The Talents Campaign’, which will be launched next year.
IMH is reaching out to everyone who has no opportunity to learn music or platforms to show their talents. Now, these people can see IMH and plan their future.

“My ministry will support those who not only preserve our rich culture and talents in Sarawak, but also to those who take serious steps to make sure that there is a continuity in such preservation of what we have inherited.”
He called on IMH to work together with the ministry on the development of music in the state. IMH executive director Dr Geraldine Law- Lee praised her staff for their dedication in nurturing raw musical talents.
She said IMH initiated the Society of Professional Musicians in Sarawak so all professional musicians can attain professional status.
Law- Lee said IMH has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris ( UPSI) to act as a UPSI feeder college in the state.
“IMH is hoping to embark on the world of technology and move with accreditation of prior experiential learning (Apel) for all in Sarawak as well as launching culture and arts apps for educational technology as well as for the tourists to Sarawak,” she said.
