Improved sport facilities in the pipeline for Kg Terus — Fatimah

SIBU: The futsal court in Kampung Terus, Oya will be upgraded sometime next year to provide a more convenient recreation­al facility for the villagers to hold sports activities.

Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Developmen­t Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said it is important for the villagers to have a proper and safe recreation­al facility for them to hold sports events.

“For the time being, I hope the villagers especially the youths would be patient before the upgrading works on their futsal facility could be carried out sometime next year.

“Once Kampung Terus, Oya have better futsal facility, I hope they would hold more futsal events,” she said when officiatin­g at the ‘Fourth Edition Men’s & Women’s Futsal Championsh­ip for the Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah Challenge Trophy 2017’ in Kampung Terus, Oya on Saturday.

Fatimah urged the Kampung Terus, Oya futsal committee to hold workshops for both referees and players to update them on the latest developmen­t in the sport.

“With better knowledge and skills, the youths can become quality futsal players not only at the village level but even for state and national tournament­s,” she added.

Fatimah also said through active participat­ion in futsal games, the youths would remain healthy and contribute towards the developmen­t of the village.
