100 Selangor RTD personnel on duty daily for ‘Ops Patuh 2’

SHAH ALAM: More than 100 enforcemen­t personnel of the Selangor Road Transport Department ( RTD) have been on duty daily in the ‘Ops Patuh 2’, carried out since last Nov 24 in conjunctio­n with the school holiday, and also the coming Christmas and New Year celebratio­n.

Its enforcemen­t section head Mohd. Azlan Shah Othman said the operation focused on offences such as using handphone , overtaking at double line, violating traffic light signal and speed limit, not wearing seat belt and driving on emergency lane.

A compound of RM300 will be imposed on those caught committing the offences, except for the offence on driving on emergency lane, where the errant motorists will be charged in the court, he told reporters during Ops Patuh 2 here yesterday.

He said the operation by RTD would not only focus on festive holidays, but also school holidays that exceeded three days.

“During school holidays, there is drastic increase in the number of vehicles on the road. The operation is to remind motorists to always be cautious and abide by road regulation­s,” he said.

In yesterday’s four-hour operation on the Federal Highway, New Klang Valley Expressway ( NKVE) and the North South Expressway, he said, two motorists were issued summons for using handphone while driving.

Another two motorists were issued summon for cutting queue and a notice was issued to a lorry driver because the vehicle’s brake light was not functionin­g,” he said. — Bernama
