Heendrew wins 58kg title at Samarahan Unity Cup 2017

KOTA SAMARAHAN: State muaythai star Heendrew Lois added another feather on his cap after winning the 58kg bout at the Samarahan Unity Cup 2017 Superfight Pro tournament here last weekend.

The young fighter from Lundu beat Wan Syamrizal Wan Jesmi dari Phoenix Mranek Samarahan at the Summermall here which was the venue for the muaythai competitio­n of the 2017 SukSar.

Two internatio­nal invitation bouts were also held, much to the excitement of the spectators who also included some SukSar muaythai exponents.

Fadzly Julai of Warrior Gym Miri took down Dennis Nosaev of Russia in the 63kg bout while Thailand’s Suphan Kaeosisaet beat Mohd Eswandy Hassan of Muaythai Kenyalang Sarawak in the 65kg category.

The crowd was also treated to three pro- fights which saw Azeem Nurhakim of Persatuan Muay tha i UiTM S a r awak knocking out Kong Hau Jin of Eagle Gym Sibu in the 75kg challenge; Abang Mohd Uqail Abang Mustapa of Warrior Miri defeating Roslan Johani of Phoenix Mranek Samarahan in the 64kg encounter; and Pratasarth­ee Punniyamoo­rthy of SS Fighters Kuching taking out Awangku Abdul Rahman Awang Marajaya of PS Muaythai Bintulu in the 51kg fight.

Serian Resident Johnathan Lugoh gave away the prizes.

The Superfight Pro f ights were held in conjunctio­n with the muaythai competitio­n of the 2017 SukSar involving exponents from Kuching, Samarahan, Lundu, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri as wel l as two internatio­nal fighters. The event was jointly run by Sarawak Muaythai Associatio­n and Samarahan Muayt hai A ssociat ion i n partnershi­p withn SukSar 2017 Secretaria­t and Summermall Management.
