500 Muslims attend Maulidur-Rasul do hosted by Sabati
KUCHING: More than 500 local Muslims attended the Maulidur Rasul event at Masjid Darul Hana near here on Monday night.
It was jointly hosted by the Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak ( Sabati) and Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Development Ministry, in collaboration with Women and Family Department and various local Muslim women’s associations.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang were the guestsof-honour.
The ceremony commenced with a ‘zikir’ (recitation of words of praise), followed by Magrib and Isya prayers led by Grand Imam of Sarawak Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.
A religious sermon took place afterwards, before the ‘nasyid’ performance by members of the mosque congregation.
“The Maulidur-Rasul celebration is meant to foster the spirit of togetherness among the local Msulims, and also to instil in them the love for Prophet Muhammad PBUH,” said a representative of the organising committee.
Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah and her husband Datu Dr Adi Badiozaman Tuah, Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, and Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni were also present.
