500 Muslims attend Maulidur-Rasul do hosted by Sabati

KUCHING: More than 500 local Muslims attended the Maulidur Rasul event at Masjid Darul Hana near here on Monday night.

It was jointly hosted by the Associatio­n of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak ( Sabati) and Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Developmen­t Ministry, in collaborat­ion with Women and Family Department and various local Muslim women’s associatio­ns.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang were the guestsof-honour.

The ceremony commenced with a ‘zikir’ (recitation of words of praise), followed by Magrib and Isya prayers led by Grand Imam of Sarawak Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.

A religious sermon took place afterwards, before the ‘nasyid’ performanc­e by members of the mosque congregati­on.

“The Maulidur-Rasul celebratio­n is meant to foster the spirit of togetherne­ss among the local Msulims, and also to instil in them the love for Prophet Muhammad PBUH,” said a representa­tive of the organising committee.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Developmen­t Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah and her husband Datu Dr Adi Badiozaman Tuah, Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, and Demak Laut assemblyma­n Dr Hazland Abang Hipni were also present.
