RS1 team will relay to federal government Sibu people’s needs — Andrew Wong

-

SIBU: Rancangan Sibu 1 ( RS1) team will inform the federal government of the needs of people in Sibu over the next five years, said team chairman Dato Andrew Wong.

He noted that there were still many basic infrastructure projects that needed to be implemented for Sibu people including utilities and street lighting.

“We must have one plan. That’s why we have the RS1,” he said when addressing participants of a community programme at a restaurant here recently.

The programme was attended by about 300 residents from Nanga Tutus, Sungai Sebedil and Sungai Langup.

Also present were Temenggong Stanley Gramong, Pemanca James Semilan, Penghulu Jeffery Sut, Penghulu Richard Ampi, Penghulu Evelyn Holly Sebom and RS1 team deputy chairman Andrew Shilling.

According to Wong, RS1 is similar to the Malaysia Plan as “it is a five-year- development plan for both urban and rural areas of Sibu”.

Meanwhile, Andrew Shilling said Sungai Sebedi area had received development projects worth RM2.8 million from 2015 to this year.

“These exclude electricity supply and road projects for Tanjung Kibong, Tutus, Sebedil and Kampung Bungan Kecil which would be implemented at a cost of RM100 million in the 11th Malaysia Plan.

“The building project of Sebedil community hall has been implemented at a cost of RM500,000. All these were due to the effort of the people’s representative of this area who is none other than Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh,” he pointed out.

Touching on Nanga Tutus area, Andrew Shilling said a total of RM1.8 million had been approved by the people’s representative to implement development projects in the area since three years ago.
