BCCK treats Salvation Army kids to Isthmus Christmas party

-

KUCHING: Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) marked the end of the year by throwing its annual ‘Isthmus Christmas Party’ on Monday evening, hosting 82 children from the Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Home and Boys Home together with their wardens.

Officiating at the event on behalf of BCCK chief executive officer Eric van Piggelen was BCCK financial controller Wayne Kho, who said 2017 had been a rewarding year for BCCK not only in terms of event-hosting.

“We are honoured to have once again been recognised by the authorities in the business events industry.

“We recently garnered two Malaysia Business Events Awards of Excellence for professional standard, best practices and innovations, and also for hosting the 55th International Congress and Convention Association Annual Congress 2016,” he said in his speech.

Kho said the awards were a timely measure of how far BCCK had come since 2009.

After his speech, he launched the Isthmus Christmas Party by lighting the Christmas tree in the celebration zone outside the Raintree Restaurant.

The Christmas party was enlivened by performances from the Salvation Army children, who also received Christmas gifts sponsored by BCCK. The evening concluded with a dinner at Raintree Restaurant.

Also present were Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Home superintendent Major T Chelvee and Salvation Army Kuching Boys Home superintendent Major Mary Ng.

BCCK received two 2017 Recognising Award Winning Results (rAWr) Awards in November – Purpose Built Convention and Exhibition Centre Award for Excellence ( below 15,000 square metres of total saleable space), and 2017 International Conference Award for Excellence for hosting the 55th International Congress and Convention Association Annual Congress.

The rAWr is a joint initiative between Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau ( MyCEB) and Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers ( MACEOS) and has been held bi- annually since 2013.

Created to recognise the professional standards, innovation and best practices in the nation’s business events industry, it is judged by a panel of independent industry experts within the Asian region.
