Celcom-Vuclip partnershi­p to offer video-on-demand streaming service

KUALA LUMPUR: Vuclip Inc, a California-based leading premium video- on- demand service provider for emerging markets, has partnered Celcom Axiata Bhd for its over-the-top video- on- demand streaming service, Viu.

In a statement yesterday, Vucl ip said, through the partnershi­p, 10 million Celcom subscriber­s would be able to access hours of premium content while on-the-go, and the service was now available via all major mobile networks in Malaysia.

Its Malaysia general manager, Kingsley Warner, said the attractive packages offered by the company’s telcommuni­cations partners had been instrument­al in providing its consumers with easy access to Viu.

“With Celcom now on board, we are able to meet the demands of an increasing­ly mobile-first market. We offer an extensive range of shows and movies, and will be adding even more titles next year,” he said.

Viu said this month, Celcom’s prepaid and postpaid subscriber­s would be able subscribe to enjoy premium Viu content at just RM3 per week or RM10 per month.

“Viu provides Malaysians with access to more than 17,000 hours of fresh and all-time favourite contents from different genres and languages – including Bahasa Malaysia, Indonesian, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese and Korean – from top regional and internatio­nal marquee studios.

“Its contents are available with English subtitles and in simplified Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia, with up to 70 hours of fresh contents per week,” it said.

Apart from Malaysia, Viu would also be available in 14 other countries, including Singapore, India, Indonesia and the Middle East, it said. — Bernama
