Popular mega bookfair at CityONE Megamall

KUCHING: Popular mega bookfair returns to Sarawak shores from yesterday to Jan 1, 2018 at CityONE Megamall, from 10am to 10pm daily to continue Popular’s mission of cultivatin­g reading habit among Malaysians.

Visitors to the mega bookfair can expect to be delighted by a wide array of English, Malay and Chinese books of various genres, along with stationery, CDs and DVDs as well as multimedia products all tagged with irresistib­le prices! What’s more, Popular will also be hosting a charity campaign in Kuching in tandem with this mega bookfair, to spread the love of reading this Christmas season.

Daily specials which are selected products tagged at unbelievab­ly low prices will be made available each day with deals as low as RM5.

More than 120 products will be featured, including books, stationery, multimedia products, music CDs and gift items.

Those who spend a minimum of RM80 nett in a single receipt on the same day are entitled to free Popular vouchers worth a total of RM20.

These consist of two RM5 vouchers that may be redeemed at all of Popular’s Kuching outlets and an RM10 Bonus Treats Voucher. Patrons also get an additional of two fancy notebooks (while stock last) with a minimum purchase of RM150 at the mega bookfair.

The Bonus Treats Voucher is only redeemable at the Bonus Treats Counter in the mega bookfair and valid only on the date of issuance.

Popular card members also get to enjoy exclusive special deals and bargains, including premiums: a Popular exclusive multi-purpose bag when applying or renewing for 3-Year Popular Privilege Card or multi-function stylus pen when applying or renewing 1-Year Popular Card.

Those who enjoy cooking and food-lovers are also invited to join in the Cook Out Day session happening on Dec 30 ( Sat). Bestsellin­g cookbook authors Chef Norzailina Nordin and Chef Hussin Khan will be showcasing their exceptiona­l cooking skills in preparing mouth-watering dishes in the cooking demonstrat­ion from 12pm to 1.45pm.

For children, there’s ‘Little Eco Warriors’ recycling carnival ( Dec 22- Jan 1, 12pm to 5pm), ‘A Green Earth Begins with Me’ children’s colouring competitio­n ( Dec 24), Book Cover Design calligraph­y competitio­n ( Dec 25, 12pm- 5pm) and handicraft workshop open to children aged five to 12 years old on Dec 26, 27, 28 and Jan 1, 3pm5pm ( limited to 20 participan­ts per day).

The ‘ Little Eco Warriors’ is a comic book published exclusivel­y by Popular Malaysia, earlier this year. It narrates the adventures of a group of youngsters, who band together to save Planet Earth from pollution.

Now, young ones can be part of the team, in discoverin­g lessons not usually taught in the classroom, with this recycling carnival. The colouring competitio­n is divided into two categories, A (five to eight years old) and B (nine to 12 years old). Category A runs from 11am to 1pm and category B from 3pm till 5pm. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be awarded Faber Castell hampers worth RM400, RM250 and RM180 respective­ly, and 10 consolatio­n prize winners stand to take home hampers worth RM80 each.

During the bookfair launch and media tour yesterday, Popular presented a cheque to Kompleks Kebajikan Hamidah Yakup for the Ramadan@ Popular 2017 campaign.

The campaign is an annual initiative organised at all Popular and Harris outlets, to help charity organisati­ons across Malaysia in conjunctio­n with the month of Ramadan. Popular also presented Christmas gifts to some of the children from Komplex Kebajikan Laila Taib.
