Telang Usan photo contest deadline extended

MIRI: The ‘Beautiful Telang Usan Photography Contest’ deadline has been extended from Jan 31 to March 31 following requests, particularly from constituents.

Organisers Telang Usan Service Centre and Miri Photographic Society said the extension is to allow for more participants to join as well as for more events and sites to be covered during the holiday break.

“We received many requests from the public to extend the closing date for this contest based on two main factors – namely the rainy season, which could hamper photo-taking activities,” co-organising chairman Dominic Nyurang Ajang told a press conference yesterday.

“With the long year-end and school holidays, many residents from urban centres have come back to the constituency to celebrate Christmas and also usher in the New Year 2018, besides other events and nature photography.”

Photos for the contest, which is open to all, must be taken within the constituency.

The categories are digital singlelens reflex (DSLR) or mirrorless, and mobile phone camera.

For the first category, the top three prizes are RM2,500, RM1,500, and RM1,000, along with 10 consolation prizes of RM100 each.

For the second category, the top three prizes are RM1,000, RM500, and RM300, along with 10 consolation prizes of RM100 each.
