SGH Blood Bank urges public to donate blood to replenish low stock

-

KUCHING: The Blood Bank of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) has set up its own Facebook page to encourage more people to donate blood.

This Facebook page under the name ‘Blood Bank Hospital Umum Sarawak’, provides updates on blood donation campaigns by the blood bank mobile units and gives good reasons for donating blood.

Further information on the blood bank is also available on SGH’s website http:// hus. moh. gov.my.

The blood bank in a press statement said the volume of blood available decreases during the holiday period, which could cause certain blood groups to be low in stock.

The statement added that the stock for blood groups O and A is very low at the moment.

As such, it appealed the public to help replenish the decreasing stock by donating blood and ensure sufficient blood supply for the patients at SGH.

The blood bank is closed today in celebration of Christmas and will re- open tomorrow, from 8am to 4.30pm.

Alternatively, donors can also donate through the blood bank mobile units at various venues including the lobby of the Sarawak Heart Centre this Wednesday, from 9am to 2pm.

Other blood donation drives will be at SGH lobby on Thursday from 8.30am to 2.30pm, Emart Batu Kawa on Saturday from 10am to 3pm, ground floor of Wisma Saberkas on Jan 1 from 9am to 2pm, and Kem Pakit, Sri Aman on Jan 4 from 8.30am to 2pm.
