Hope Place approves 36 families for its aid for one year

-

KUCHING: A total of 36 needy families have been approved by Hope Place Kuching to receive aid from the non- governmental organisation ( NGO) for one year.

The total cost for this project is estimated at RM50,000 but the NGO has only managed to raise RM15,000.

“We still need more help from the public,” said Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan.

Three months ago, Hope Place was informed of underprivileged families in Sri Aman, Lubok Antu, Engkilili and Betong areas needing help and sent a team to visit and interview these families.

Out of the 36 families, 16 are from longhouses around Lubok Antu.

On Dec 22, Wan handed over 16 sets of care packages comprising daily necessities to Lubok Antu village head Aing Jenang for distribution to the needy families.

“We want to thank AQUATech Engineering & Marketing Co manager Jong Bui Kiong for sponsoring the transportation and helping us bring the goods from our office to Lubok Antu,” said Wan.

Hope Place Kuching is an NGO that visits the poor and lessfortunate families to deliver some essential items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuit and noodles.

Most of these families or individuals barely earn enough to get through the month; hence many are grateful with the assistance.

For families caring for children with special needs or senior citizens or disabled individuals, the NGO provides milk powder, oat and diapers as well.

Hope Place carries out aid deliveries once every two months because of the many families on its recipients list. Currently, it supports more than 180 families.

For more information on how you can help, contact Hope Place at hotline 013- 5672775 or 082- 505987 from 8.30am to noon or 2pm to 5pm from Mondays to Fridays, or 9am to noon on Saturdays.

Those making a donation must request for a receipt from the staff at Hope Place. Direct bank-in can be made to ‘Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching’ at Maybank account 5112- 8900-1160.
