Various aid given proves economy is good, government concerned, says Ismail Sabri

BERA: Various government assistance including school supplies provided to students each year proves the country’s economy is in good shape, says Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the assistance provided also showed that the Barisan Nasional ( BN) government was a concerned one, and did not merely make empty promises.

In this regard, he urged the people to continue to trust BN to enable more development agendas to be implemented, for the benefit and well-being of the people.

“The government has specific agendas in caring for the people and it does not racially discriminate. We should not believe in baseless accusations against the government.

“We need to continue to support the government that has proven to be of great benefit to the people, such as the assistance given to children in Bera each year,” he said at the 2018 Bera Parliamentary Constituency School Assistance Presentation and 2017 Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) Excellence Award ceremony at the Rakan Muda Complex, here, yesterday.

This year, 10,000 pupils received the aid compared to 7,500 last year, with priority given to children of single mothers, orphans, from poor families or whose parents have many children.

All the students from primary and secondary schools received a school uniform, a pair of shoes and a school bag each.

“InsyaAllah ( God willing), we will give more, as long as anyone needs help. This aid is given regardless of political affiliation; anyone who is eligible will be assisted,” said Ismail Sabri, who is also the Bera MP.

He said the contribution was a joint initiative with nongovernmental organisations such as the Salam Foundation and Bera Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre. — Bernama
