SGH announces several access closures to facilitate upgrading works

-

KUCHING: The preparation works on the long- awaited daycare centre and Meditel buildings, as well as the new multi-storey carpark of Sarawak General Hospital ( SGH) have commenced.

In this regard, access to main drop- off lobby and the present carpark would be closed, while the traffic flow would be re-routed to the temporary drop- off lobbies.

A temporary carpark at Jalan Medan Temple is now available for patients and visitors, with the operation hours from 6am to 6pm.

According to a SGH spokesperson, these measures are unavoidable so as to give way to construction works.

Key changes that have already taken place are the opening of a temporary car park at Jalan Medan Temple; closure of the public carpark within SGH compound, its main entrance via Jalan Hospital, Health Department and blood bank blocks; and closure of access to SGH main lobby.

Alternatively, drivers wishing to pick up/drop off passengers may do so at Lobby A (specialist clinic) via entrance from Gate A and Gate E; or at Lobby B (in-patient block) via entrance from Gate B.

“These short- term precautionary measures are taken in collaboration with SGH management team to ensure the safety of hospital patients, visitors, personnel and also members of the public.

“SGH would like to remind that visitors can only enter the hospital’s compound via Gate A and B at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, or Gate E at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce. Gate C at Jalan hospital is strictly for emergency purposes,” the spokesperson said.
