SUPP Mambong holds BR1M registration exercise for villagers

-

KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Mambong branch, together with its Youth section, yesterday held a registration and updating service on the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) programme for the Bidayuh community in Mambong constituency.

The event, held at the 1Malaysia Internet Centre at Bengoh Resettlement Scheme (BRS), is one of the community services by the party for the benefit of people in Mambong.

Residents of BRS and nearby villages came to get their BR1M status updated and registered.

The exercise – conducted by SUPP Mambong Youth for the first time – is an initiative to help the Bidayuh community in the area register for BR1M due to the geographical location of the villages.

According to SUPP Mambong Youth chief Andrew Victor Nub, the exercise was to ensure that all communities, especially the Bidayuh in Mambong, are able to receive benefits provided by the government.

“Bringing the service counter to rural areas shows the determination of SUPP in reaching out to the rural people rather than waiting for the people to reach us,” said Victor, who is also Youth Central deputy chairman.

Andrew added that many other activities are being planned by the party in the constituency, in line with the party president’s message during the recent triennial delegates conference (TDC) that SUPP is a ‘new SUPP’ and that members are all committed to heed the call for a stronger Sarawak and a better nation.
