S4S: Vote wisely this coming general election

-

KUCHING: Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) wants Sarawakians to vote wisely in the coming general election by voting those who will be able to make Sarawak and Malaysia stronger.

Its prime mover Peter John Jaban wants Sarawakian voters to vote for the best candidates not entirely based on his or her personality, but on their vision and policies that will make a better Sarawak.

“If we want a stronger Sarawak and Malaysia, we must vote for representatives who understand the people’s rights, those with no ulterior motives and also those who can do their duty without expecting much in return,” he said through a press statement yesterday.

He also said the special rights of Sarawak and Sabah were not up for negotiation; that their interest must be placed toppriority.

“The rights were negotiated to prevent the plunder of our natural resources such as oil and gas, to protect us from being deprived of our livelihoods and economies, and to preserve our unique cultures and traditions. These rights were negotiated to prevent us from becoming the two poorest regions in the country, with sub-standard roads, education facilities and development opportunities.

“Greater autonomy for Sarawak and Sabah will allow us to stand up for our rights,” he said.

Peter thus said this coming general election would be a turning point for Sarawak.

“Autonomy will be a key issue as the world is watching us.”
