No guarantee President Cup players will be picked for Sukma
KUCHING: Not all the players from the President Cup team are assured of a place in this year’s Sukma XIX squad.
Head Coach Mohamad Mentali said their chance of playing in Sukma wil l depend on their performance for the whole duration of the President Cup 2018 campaign which is scheduled to kick off at the end of Feb.
Meanwhi le, he expressed satisfaction with the 30 players selected for this year’s President Cup. The three-day selection trial, he said, was conducted carefully with only players with the “full package” being picked.
Pre- season matches are also being planned to check on the abilities of the players and how well they gel with other team members.
The selected players include Saiful Wazizi Mohamad, Andy Nicolas Nipen and Ahmad Uzair Zaidil (goalkeepers), Love Henry Mangi, Syed Mohammad Naufal Syed Hashim, Mohd Fazarul Mahathir, Abang Nur Af irman Abang Norazman, Abbel Akwansivie, Adam Fahmi Iskandar, Muhammad Nur Marwan Musa, Alexster Biaggi Justin, Rivaldo Adrill Wilson Rentap, Tengku Mohammad Hallfi Tuanku Zainal, Muhammad Firdaus Fauzi and Mohd Riduwan Jamberi (defenders).
Others are Mohd Rasydan Bijang, Mohd Hasrol Azizi Abdul Rahman, Sulaiman Jamali, Awang Shahriman Awang Ahmad, Georghy Kinkladzi, Nur Iman Anuar, Mohd Yunus Hasan and Amir Amri Saleh (midfielders), Mohd Adif Salim, Amar Muaz Zamri, Williy Meling Rabbit, Ricky Shano Suiman, Nazaruddin Bohri, Amirul Shahfizan Mohd Safri and Mohd Azrol Azrin Matusin (strikers).
The coaching line-up comprises Ibrahim Mentali, Ahmad Fairuz Yunus, Jahar Nor and Abdul Ghani Anuar while Duke Janteng is the team manager.
