‘Increasing enrolment a sign of quality in Chinese education’
SIBU: The number of Malaysian children registering for education in Chinese independent secondary schools in the country has been rising in recent years.
According to the United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia ( DongZong) chairman Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau, this testifies to the parents’ trust and confidence in the quality of Chinese education.
It also indicated that the Unified Examination Certificate ( UEC) is a qualification to be reckoned with.
Lau said this when officiating at a ceremony to mark the commencement of the new school year at SM Wong Nai Siong here yesterday.
The school registered 147 new students for the Junior One class this year - an increase of eight students from last year.
Lau who is chairman of the school’s management board said the school had the facilities of a place conducive to learning.
“I’m confident of seeing our student population reach the 1,000 target over the next two years. Presently, we have 800 students - an increase of 61 students from last year’s figure. It’s a record of sorts,” he said.
