MIRI: A 23-year- old man suffered a loss of around RM65, 000 after his company- owned four-wheeldrive ( 4WD) was stolen from the parking bay at Marina Bay Commercial Centre.

According to a source, the victim parked his car near a pub at about 11pm on Tuesday before he discovered the theft at about 3am last Wednesday. The victim lodged a police report here for further investigation.

In a separate incident, a 47year- old woman suffered a loss of about RM140, 000 after picking up a phone call from an unidentified man at about 9am Thursday (Jan 4) requesting for her car service to pick and send his workers from Permai to Kuala Baram.

“Thereafter, the victim met with four unidentified men in a supermarket in Tudan and was instructed to go to a bank at Boulevard commercial centre where two of the men accompanied her to withdraw her savings amounting to RM90, 000,” said the source.

The victim was then taken by the four men in an unknown vehicle and left at Canada Hill. The victim who claimed that she was hypnotised later lodged a police report. The victim also lost her mobile phone, driving licence, identity card, and jewellery,” said the source.

Yet another victim of crime was a 63-year- old farmer who suffered a loss of about RM5,000 after his house in Kampung Madinah Suai was broken into. The victim only realised the burglary after his son called him on Monday at about 3am as the victim and the rest of his family were in Sarikei at that time.

The front door to the house had been pried open and several items were stolen including a motorcycle and water pump. The victim lodged a police report for further investigation.
