DAP out to help Sungai Moyan residents file damage claims to Sesco

-

KUCHING: The state Democratic Action Party ( DAP) will open a booth at one of the coffee shops in Sungai Moyan Square, Batu Kawa today to assist residents in making their claims to Sesco for damaged electrical appliances.

Bandar Kuching MP and DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen said several residents at Sungai Moyan had called him for help in making these claims.

According to them, the sudden voltage drop that affected Sungai Moyan area recently had resulted in short circuits, which damaged a lot of household appliances.

“As I understand, the number of households affected is very big and therefore, DAP would set up a booth at Moyan Square to help them (residents) make the claims and also to inform them of the procedures for claims,” he told reporters at DAP headquarters here yesterday.

Chong, who is also Kota Sentosa assemblyman, advised the residents to list down the number of electrical appliances that were damaged before coming to the booth to expedite the process.

“This is because under the procedures, they have to make police reports where they need to state what the broken electrical appliances are.”

Chong also reminded residents to keep all these damaged appliances, and if they had replaced any, they must keep the receipt for the new purchase to be brought together for the claims.

“We are going over to Moyan Sqaure to have a dialogue with the residents who want to make the claims and inform them of the procedures.”

It is learnt that the sudden voltage drop affecting Sungai Moyan was caused by some works, which blew off certain fuses.

“I just asked them ( Sesco) this morning; there was such an occurrence and sudden drop in voltage,” said Chong.
