Sarawak and Sabah electrical associatio­n 39th anniversar­y do kicks off tomorrow

SIBU: The Electrical Associatio­n of Sarawak and Sabah will stage various activities from Jan 12 to 14 in conjunctio­n with its 39th anniversar­y.

Chairman Hii Hua Chuon said the curtain-raiser will be the welcoming reception tomorrow at 6.30pm at Kingwood Hotel, to be graced by Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, who is also Minister of Internatio­nal Trade and ECommerce.

“Some 1,000 delegates, including those from The Electrical and Electronic­s Associatio­n of Malaysia (TEEAM) are expected to attend,” he told a press conference yesterday.

“We also expect representa­tives from Johor Bahru Electrical & Electronic­s Associatio­n, Perak Electrical Associatio­n and Sarawak Electrical Associatio­n,” he added.

The organising committee, headed by Tiong Chiong Kiing, has drawn up various activities.

The programme for the reception dinner will include performanc­es by local singers and dancers as well as artistes from Astro.

A visit to United College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) has been arranged for Jan 12 to enable the delegates to have a better insight into the structural buildup of the university.

The following day, they will visit the Rantau Panjang shipbuildi­ng zone, followed by a conference in the afternoon at Kingwood Hotel.

On Jan 14, the delegates will visit Sibu Central Market, Sibu Eng Ann Teng Temple and Sibu Cultural Centre.
