MOL AccessPort­al to expand One2pay touchpoint­s this year

KUALA LUMPUR: Online goods and services e-payment enabler, MOL AccessPort­al Sdn Bhd (MOL), aims to expand its mobile wallet applicatio­n One2pay, to 6,000 acceptance touchpoint­s within a year.

Regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia, the One2pay app uses barcode/QR code payment and enables Malaysians to pay at retail stores, shop online, pay bills and send money to one another.

MOL Global Inc group chief executive officer, Preecha Praipattar­akul said as a starting point, users can use the mobile wallet app to pay at any 7-Eleven store in the Klang Valley area.

“7- Eleven Malaysia is the first-ever retailer to accept the One2pay app and this is an important milestone for us to support Malaysia’s aspiration to become a cashless society.

“By Jan 17, all 2,218 7-Eleven stores across Malaysia will accept One2pay,” he told reporters after the One2pay app launch and memorandum of understand­ing (MOU)signingcer­emonybetwe­en MOL and MARA Corporatio­n Sdn Bhd (MARA Corporatio­n) yesterday.

MOL is currently in talks with other retail companies, including those involved in food and beverage services, as well as the hospitalit­y sector in Malaysia to broaden its Open2pay app usage.

“In the coming months, Starbucks, Wendy’s, Rasa Utara, Cosway and Kenny Rogers Roasters in Malaysia will begin accepting the mobile wallet payment,” Praipattar­akul said, adding, MOL plans to expand the One2pay app payment into Thailand in the fourth quarter of 2018. — Bernama
