Forca Bintulu to mark 30th anniversary with gathering
BINTULU: The Federation of Registered Chinese Associations ( Forca) Bintulu Division will hold a special dinner to mark its 30th anniversary on Jan 14 at Bintulu Civic Centre.
Its president Hii Toh Him said apart from the dinner, the Federation of Chinese Associations Sarawak will be joining Forca Bintulu in organising the Lunar New Year gathering banquet, which will be held on the same occasion.
“The event will start from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. For this event, we have invited our Bintulu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who is Forca advisor, as our guest- of-honour as well as heads of government departments and private sectors,” he told a press conference at Forca Bintulu’s office yesterday.
Many interesting activities have been lined up for the event, including a lion dance performance, traditional dance by students from SM Kai Dee Bintulu, and a video presentation of Forca Bintulu’s 30th anniversary.
Hii said there will also be a special presentation of souvenirs to former Forca Bintulu presidents as an appreciation for their services and contributions to the wellbeing of the Chinese community here.
Forca Bintulu was established in 1987 and started with only 21 Chinese associations. Currently, 53 associations are registered under Forca Bintulu.
“For the past five years, Forca Bintulu has organised many social activities to help the needy such as our back-to- school programme. We also provide education loans for those who want to further their studies at higher learning institutions,” said Hii, who is expecting 1,200 guests to turn up for the gathering.
He urged their invited guests to be punctual, while those who come before 6.30pm will be entitled for the lucky draw and stand a chance to win an Apple iPhone 8.
