Community leaders urged to do village profiling

-

KUCHING: All community leaders, especially village chiefs are responsible in preparing profiles for their respective village or areas.

According to Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, the profile should contain important information for the government to identify the form of aid or assistance that could be channelled to the people of the area or what sort of development that the government should plan for the area.

He also said that the profile could also be a guide for the leaders and members of the community to plan activities and programmes for the development of their area.

“It is important for villages or a certain area to have profiles and the leaders of the village or area should be responsible in preparing it. My area (Tupong constituency) for example really needs it and as elected representative, it can become a reference for me,” he said during an event organised the Gita Lama PBB Unit here yesterday.

Apart from enabling the government to assist the people, Fazzrudin also commented that the profile can be used to promote the area to outsiders if the area has an attraction of its own.

He also commented that leaders should also work closely with the government if they want to see their own areas develop.

This was because without the cooperation from leaders, especially at the grassroots level, all the development plans that the government have for the people would not be able to be implemented. The Jiwa Murni Programme hosted by the Gita Lama PBB Unit was held to foster ties between leaders and members of the local community.

Also present during the event were Senator Dr Zaiedi Suhaili and local community leaders.
