SIBU: The Electrical Association of Sarawak and Sabah ( EASS) will organise the electrical vocational skill ( Level 1) and solar power energy training course in collaboration with University College Technology of Sarawak ( UCTS).

According to the EASS chairman Hii Hua Chuon, he was pleased with the high percentage pass by the candidates for Grade Two of the electrical vocational skill course last year.

Speaking at EASS’ 39th anniversary celebration dinner and graduation ceremony cum New Year dinner last Friday, he said 30 of the 33 candidates passed with flying colours.

With that, he pointed out he was much encouraged to organise higher-level electrical vocational skills for those involved in electrical works in order to be competent electricians.

He said this was also to cater to the dire need for qualified electricians to cope with electrical works at high-rise condominium and commercial buildings.

“Our association is ever ready to face the challenges ahead and keep abreast with time in tandem with the modern era,” he pointed out.

On solar power energy for generating electricity, Hii said this was a new facility that is gaining momentum, especially in remote areas which needed skilled electricians.

Minister of International Trade and E- Commerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh was the guest- of-honour at the dinner.

President of the Electrical and Electronic Association of Malaysia Sibu Yong Ah Huat, chairman of Sibu Municipal Council Datuk Tiong Thai King, acting State Director of Electricity Supply Chang Seng Yu, and organising chairman Tiong Chiong Kiing were among those present.
