Rejang Bidayuh dance kicks off Asadia’s programme

KUCHING: The Sarawak Dayak Iban Academy (Asadia) begins its cultural classes programme with the Rejang Bidayuh dance lesson this year.

According to Asadia head Mabong Unggang, a total of 15 participan­ts have registered for the classes which are scheduled to be held at the Sarawak Dayak Iban Associatio­n ( Sadia) headquarte­rs.

Apart from that, Mabong also pointed out that Asadia – although an academy under Sadia which is an associatio­n for the Iban Dayak community of Sarawak – is keen to promote the cultures of all Dayak communitie­s in the state.

Hence he hoped that all members of the Dayak community in the state would support the cultural programmes by Asadia towards ensuring that the culture of all Dayak communitie­s remain preserved and well taken care of.

After the Rejang Bidayuh lesson, Mabong revealed that Asadia will hold lessons for Iban male and female dances, Betaboh ( percussion) playing, Kuntau (Iban martial arts) and Orang Ulu Sape playing.
