The five clubs were Lions Club of Miri Mandarin, Lions Club of Batu Niah, Lions Club of Lambir Miri, Lions Club of Lutong and Lions Club of Miri Centennial.

According to the president of Lions Club of Lambir Miri Nigel Loh Lin Kwang, who is also the event’s organising chairman, the charity event was held in line with Lions Club’s ‘Worldwide Week of Service to Fight Hunger’.

“This is our small gesture to reach out to those in need and bring them some love and care by providing food.

“In fact, most of the recipients live in pitiful condition and are also physically immobile or bedridden.

“Therefore, all the food items were given directly to the recipients at their homes,” said Loh.

The charity event was held in collaboration with Tudan Methodist Church and Miri Welfare Agape Society, of which 70 packets of 10-kg rice were channeled to the recipients through the church while the remaining 20 packets were channelled to recipients through Miri Welfare Agape Society.
