Opposition’s true colours coming out — Bashah

-

ALOR SETAR: The true colours of the opposition pact led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad are coming out as the leaders tried to achieve their own personal agenda in view of the upcoming 14th general election, says Kedah Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.

He said this includes the recent statement made by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ( PPBM) deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir that he harboured the desire to become a ‘ leader’.

“That’s what I always say, Dr Mahathir’s real agenda is to promote his son, that’s why he is so determined.

“For a start, they named him as Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for prime minister, but what he really wants is to make Mukhriz the prime minister.”

Ahmad Bashah said this to reporters yesterday after visiting the farmers’ market in Taman Wira Mergong and presented donation of daily necessities to over 400 families in the area.

The Kedah Menteri Besar said this in response to Mukhriz’s witness statement in the High Court recently that everyone in the political arena, including himself, had desires to become a leader, including becoming a prime minister, but not through a secret pact as alleged by former DAP vice- chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim.

On the rumours that PPBM would bring outside candidates to contest in Kedah in the GE14, Ahmad Bashah said it clearly showed that the party lacked of credible local candidates.

“If they really do it, it will prove that they do not appreciate the local leaders who have been with them all this while,” he said. — Bernama
