Committee on affairs of community leaders set up
MIRI: A divisional-level committee has been set up to look into the affairs of community leader services.
Miri Resident Sherrina Hussaini said the committee was set up following the state government’s decision to empower the Residents Office to appoint, extend and terminate the services of community leaders.

“Now, with this committee, it will speed up the solving of issues related to community leaders, particular in the delay of appointment and service extension. However, the decision on their services has to be made unanimously by the committee,” she told the media after presenting certificates of service extension of temenggong to four community heads at the Resident Office here yesterday.
On the composition of the committee here, Sherrina takes the responsibility of the chairman with her deputy the committee’s secretary. She added that elected representatives and district officers also play roles in the committee.
Earlier, she presented certificate of service extension to Temenggong Joseph Ngau Lian ( Kenyah), Temenggong Wilson Limping ( Iban) and Temenggong Abdul Rahman Fadzail (Malay).
Temenggong Datuk Hasan Sui (for Penan) was unable to attend the event.
Miri District Officer Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf was also present at the event.
