Arang Road flats to be issued strata titles within 2 years

-

KUCHING: Owners of flats at Taman Flora Indah (Arang Road) will get their strata titles within these two years.

Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is working hard to get the strata titles done within the time frame.

The eight blocks of flat with 576 units, which are about 15 years have not received the strata titles. The issue has been politicised by Bandar Kuching MP Chong Chieng Jen, who is also Kota Sentosa assemblyman.

“HDC is making a strenous effort to have the strata titles issued within these two years.

“Issuing strata titles has never been easy because it has to follow strictly to the Strata Titles Ordinance.

“I can safely say that the titles would be issued within these two years,” Lo, who is Padawan Municipal Council ( PMC) chairman told a press conference at his office here yesterday.

HDC chief executive officer Mohamad Asman Ahmad and its public relations officer Ali Omar Su’ut were also present.

Lo, meanwhile, urged the flat owners not to illegally extend their premises which could affect the issuance of the titles.

He warned that the council would dismantle the illegal extension if their advice was unheeded.

Mohamad said at least six steps had to be followed before strata titles were issued.

“It may take a month or so to tackle each step. We ( HDC) are working hard to resolve the problem accordingly not only for these flats (at Taman Flora Indah) but also other flats throughout the state.”

There are 14 flat projects under HDC across the state.

Meanwhile, he said the physical construction of the 8-storey flats with 443 units at Landeh, Kota Padawan would commence in March this year.

The RM85 million project is scheduled for completion in November 2020.
