Strong collaboration between federal, state leaders a boon for business in Lawas
LAWAS: The strong collaboration between the Federal and State government leaders here could position Lawas as a business district in northern Sarawak.
Lawas Foochow Association chairman Yong Kah Chu pointed out that the solid leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism ( MDTCC) Datuk Henry Sum Agong could bolster the people’s economy in the region, which is well known for “tahai” fish.
According to Yong, the people here are generally very pleased with Awang Tengah and Henry’s leadership, the best combination to enhance development in the district for a much better quality of life than before.
“Besides Awang Tengah, Henry Sum too clearly showed his leadership ability to lead all communities in fairness,” he said yesterday.
He added the local Foochow community leaders see Lawas’ political strength as an attraction to the development of business and are confident that the Pan Borneo highway project when completed would boost economic development in the district.
“We are convinced that Henry Sum Agong is still healthy and has the energy to continue to serve in the federal cabinet and contribute to Sarawak’s development plan,” he said.
Thus, the Foochow community vowed their unwavering commitment and support to the two leaders to continue leading Lawas.
