Lim delivers donations from Good Samaritans to cancer patient

-

KUCHING: Nose and throat cancer patient Bong Say Fong again received donations from a group of Good Samaritans brought together by volunteer social worker Lim Chee Haw.

Lim said he made the effort to again assist the cancer patient, whose family is living on hard times, and he had personally delivered the donations to the family’s home at RPR Batu Gong near Siburan.

He said the welfare assistance from the government and aid from relatives and friends are just barely enough to supplement the meagre income of breadwinner, her lorry driver husband, and their two sons do not have stable incomes.

“Thankfully, there are Good Samaritans out there who have answered my request to help this family and reduce their burden. I have lived in poverty and hardship before, and I understand the predicament they are going through.

“Contributions, big or small, are always welcomed to assist this family,” said Lim, a former marine police personnel who is now devoting his life to assist needy individuals and organisations.

He singled out Fook Lai Construction in MJC Batu Kawa, and Mr Hii and Sandi Bunya from Matang for their generous contributions.

On another matter, Lim said he recently helped a family at Kampung Soh, Tanah Merah near Tapah, to acquire a coffin for their deceased child.

He explained that poor families needing coffins for the funeral of a departed family member can contact him at 082-248153 or 016- 8070388 for assistance.

He said that cash donations from Good Samaritans, coffins can be purchased and placed at a coffin shop in Kuching ready to be delivered upon request.

“So far, 16 coffins have been delivered to places as far as Bau, Serian and Sri Aman,” he said.
