The food contribution, under the ‘ Relieving The Hunger 2018’ joint project, was presented by its District 308-A2 governor Pelly Lee at the school hall.

Organising chairlady Cathlyn Boon said the five clubs under Zone 8 involved in the project are Lions Club of Miri Host, Lions Club of Miri Central, Lions Club of Marudi Mandarin, New Century Lions Club of Miri Resort City and Lions Club of Miri Seahorse.

“The clubs have served our communities with dedication and contributed to the development and well- being of millions of people around the world.

“To celebrate our 100th anniversary, we pledged to meet the objective set under our centennial service goal of serving more than 100 million people worldwide by June this year,” said Boon.

On SK Anchi, she said the clubs have been helping less fortunate pupils from the school over the last four years under its centennial service programme ‘ Relieving The Hunger’.

“This year, we donated some 200 bags of rice, 100 crates of eggs, 200 packs of sugar and another 200 bags of instant noodles to the school for its less fortunate pupils.”

Boon added the recipients were pupils from low-income families with a household income of below RM1,000 and with more than two school-going children.

She also thanked sponsors for their generous contributions which made this year’s edition of ‘ Relieving The Hunger’ a success.

SK Anchi headmaster Abdul Aziz Taiee was among those present.
